Why did you want to lose weight?
Since eating made me so happy, I just kept gaining weight over time. Exercise was definitely not my thing, only eating, hanging out on the couch and sleeping. By that time, I was steadily gaining 20 pounds per year until the scale was finally reading 310 pounds. I looked in the mirror and saw that I was physically changing, but didn't do anything about it.
"Keep on going and going... never stop!"
My lab results were so bad that it was even having an effect on our plan to have children. I drew an enormous amount of strength from this and immediately started going to the gym and eating healthier. My sleep apnea was another reason I decided to lose weight. My stomach had become so heavy that it was putting pressure on my lungs when I was laying down and I needed support from a respiratory mask to fall asleep. This wasn't an acceptable way to live anymore!
What did you want to accomplish on your journey?
My goal was to lose weight and become extremely fit in the process. I wanted to be fit and healthy for my future little family. My goal was to be able to play with my future daughter in the backyard without being in pain, having trouble squatting down or having problems lifting her up.
How did you reach your goals?
At first, I thought about writing everything down myself until I came to the realization that there must be an app that already does that. With YAZIO, I weighed and scanned my food daily, and also exercised for 1 year. Cardio and strength training worked best for me.
Adrian’s Tips
I had almost no cheat days and, if I did, I exercised twice as much. It was never a problem for me because I felt the difference being made each day. Pants, blouses, t-shirts—everything fit better. And the most important thing was that my wife saw day by day how much happier I was becoming.
How did YAZIO help you?
YAZIO was a constant companion throughout my weight-loss journey. The app really helped me to understand food better. I didn't follow any special diet while losing weight. I ate everything from low-carb to high fat and simply kept an eye on my portions.
I always remained in a calorie deficit and noticed that I was losing 9–10 pounds each month. The more I exercised, the more calories I needed to consume.
Did you have setbacks?
To be honest, fortunately, I didn't have any setbacks. I was getting closer and closer to my goal, so why should I stop?
What advice do you have for other users?
Tip 1: Use YAZIO correctly. Once you've understood how to set up the app and enter your meals, then you're already on the right track.
Tip 2: Buy a fitness tracker and share your accomplishments, for example, on platforms like Instagram. There are so many people who will support you.
Tip 3: Be patient and give your body the time it needs.
What are your future goals?
Maintaining my weight is my top priority. Once the Covid situation allows for it, I'd like to get back to the gym to balance out working from home or get into a daily routine. Strength training is really important for me and, above all, it's really fun for me to see how the body can improve and accomplish more and more over time.
Why do you want to tell your story?
Like I wrote in the beginning, MY STORY was my reason to lose weight. When you've found the right woman, eventually you want to have children. Without my strong will, we wouldn't have been able to.
Exercising helped me lose 55 pounds within 3 months and a positive pregnancy test followed. From then on, it was even more important for me to become fitter and healthier, for my future little family :-).
