Why did you want to lose weight?
The topic of weight and being overweight has actually influenced my entire life—sometimes more, sometimes less. From skinny, to normal to overweight, I've experienced it all, and all without ever actually dealing with the subject.
"If you can dream it, you can do it!"
Over the last 5 years, I steadily gained weight. (My husband is just too good of a cook :)) My aha moment was definitely seeing 191.6 pounds on the scale! It also helped that my husband easily lost almost 45 pounds with intermittent fasting. From that moment on, things were clear.
What did you want to accomplish on your journey?
In May, on our Greek vacation, I wanted to finally be able to wear a bikini again and feel good about myself because I just didn't feel comfortable in my own body. My reflection was just sad. I wanted to lose 20 pounds by May. At that time, I didn't think I was capable of more.
How did you reach your goals?
At the beginning of last year, I decided to radically lose weight, started reading about the topic, I now know what macros are, discovered the YAZIO app and bought myself a fitness tracker. Nutrition and exercise were the most important.
Yvonne’s Tips
I completely changed my diet: Intermittent fasting with a lot of protein products, less sugar and no alcohol. I integrated my own fitness regime with a lot of movement, like 10,000 daily steps, running on the treadmill, strength training with dumbbells and resistance bands, and riding a bike. I did all of that 4 to 5 times per week.
Now I can easily drink at least 84 fluid ounces of tea and water per day. I actually managed to lose the 20 pounds by May. It motivated me to keep going and exercising was fun. That's the only reason I kept going... and I've lost almost 55 pounds. It feels fantastic!
How did YAZIO help you?
YAZIO helped me a lot. It's a simple, easy-to-understand app in which I can log everything that I eat and drink throughout the day. The app also has a huge food database, which is really great.
I always have an overview of my day and there are plenty of delicious and easy recipes. You start consciously dealing with yourself, your day and your nutrition. The YAZIO Community (e.g. Facebook) is fantastic and I've learned a lot there.
Did you have setbacks?
I didn't actually have any setbacks. Of course, I hit plateaus every once in a while. This requires the necessary perseverance, patience and discipline. At times like these, it helped to take my measurements. Even if the scale isn't moving, your body is still changing.
What advice do you have for other users?
Start slowly, even if it's just a daily walk in the beginning. Set small goals and celebrate small accomplishments. Once you've reached these goals/milestones, reward yourself. Be patient, every body is different and sometimes things take a little longer.
What are your future goals?
I will definitely keep YAZIO as a control checker. First to maintain my weight, and then to get a little bit more into muscle building.
Why do you want to tell your story?
Because I know how difficult it is or can be to get started... and as motivation. If you really have a goal and really want to accomplish it, then you can. Reaching your goal, simply feeling comfortable with yourself again, it's a wonderful feeling.
