Why did you want to lose weight?
During my internship, I was often laughed at because of my weight. My colleagues made a bet with me: The company (60 employees) bet that I couldn't lose 45 pounds in 13 weeks. If I lost, I would have to pay for a barbecue for everyone. That would have been 3 months of the salary I was getting!
"If yesterday didn't throw you off course, tomorrow will be no problem!"
After I started to make progress and see the first results, things started happening on their own. I had more confidence and could finally buy the clothes I wanted.
What did you want to accomplish on your journey?
My starting goal was to get down to 175 pounds and reduce my body fat percentage. Now that I've reached this goal, I want to maintain my weight and build muscle.
How did you reach your goals?
I tracked my calories with the YAZIO app every day. In this case, it's very important to be honest with yourself.
I got the best results with a 300 to 500 Calorie deficit per day. I also don't have any cheat days. If I want to treat myself to something, then I simply plan it into my day. I've also learned a lot about nutrition through social media channels, such as YouTube and Instagram.
Patrick’s Tips
In addition to counting calories, I also work out a lot. At first, I was just jogging, but over time, I've learned that weight training is the most effective for me.
I also tried to get in 10,000 steps a day. This alone, along with other exercise throughout my day, allowed me to increase my calorie consumption.
How did YAZIO help you?
I'll be honest. Without YAZIO, I wouldn't have been able to calculate and track my calorie deficit. These days, the app is part of my daily routine, including tracking my water intake.
Did you have setbacks?
Yes, there was a time that I stopped paying attention to my diet. As a result, I started to gain back the weight. But even when I was tracking, there were weeks I didn't lose weight, but gained weight instead.
What advice do you have for other users?
Set yourself a goal, keep your eye on the prize and don't let small setbacks bring you down. What helped me was focusing on the weekly average when weighing myself!
What are your future goals?
I want to stay in shape and not have to deal with any more setbacks. At the moment, I do weight training 4 times per week to tone my body. I'm also eating a suitable diet that I also keep an eye on with YAZIO.
Why do you want to tell your story?
I want other users to see that it works. With a goal and the right tool (the YAZIO app), you can do it!
