Why did you want to lose weight?
There wasn't any specific catalyst on the day I decided to lose weight. I even had pork roast with dumplings that afternoon. I stepped on the scale right afterwards and, from that day, decided I would definitely see it through. Of course, I already had plenty of attempts behind me.
"When you want to give up, remember why you started."
I asked a lot of people in my circle of friends, who had already lost weight, for tips and tricks. But regardless of how many people you ask for advice, if you don't meticulously try to understand the topic yourself, you'll never make it. You have to want it 1,000 percent and, to some extent, align your life with it.
I thought it was so awful to look at pictures of myself. At the point, there were almost no pictures of me because I felt so uncomfortable in my body. Walking from the parking lot to my office was so physically exhausting for me that I would be out of breath for 5 minutes afterwards.
What did you want to accomplish on your journey?
I wanted to find myself attractive again, get into better shape and not be physically limited anymore.
How did you reach your goals?
I downloaded the YAZIO app, really dove deep into the topic of calorie counting, calorie deficits and macronutrients, created various recipe categories, and wrote meal plans that I stuck to precisely. Even today, I still write a weekly shopping list based on these meal plans. The advantage here is that we don't buy anything else and have exactly what we need at home. This way, nothing gets thrown away.
Corinna’s Tips
I eat a really versatile diet, from vegetarian dishes and vegetables to fish, chicken and beef. Before I started my weight-loss journey, we didn't eat very healthily. I don't have cheat days and I don't believe in them.
You have to log everything and stay in a calorie deficit. That's the only things that works. That means, theoretically, you can eat "anything" if you pay attention to your caloric intake. I, however, have opted for a very balanced diet and, even in restaurants, go for healthy dishes instead of pizza, for example.
I didn't exercise an extreme amount. Instead, I focused on being more active in general and, for example, walking 10,000 steps a day. For 1 year, I weighed and logged everything very precisely and, as a result, lost 100 pounds in 365 days. I documented my journey with pictures. Seeing my progress every week and getting compliments always motivated me even more and kept me going.
We also take pictures of our food and share it in our Whatsapp status, where we also get a lot of feedback. That also motivates me.
How did YAZIO help you?
YAZIO was and is the key to success. I accomplished everything with this app. I really have to say again that staying in a calorie deficit is the only "secret recipe." That means you have to be honest with yourself and log everything accurately.
Did you have setbacks?
I didn't have any setbacks. When we go out to eat, I choose something healthy yet delicious. On the weekends, I'll drink a latte macchiato and eat cake but will then pay closer attention to my caloric intake afterwards. I wouldn't be able to go back to eating unhealthy things, like pizza, because I've gotten used to eating a balanced diet and don't want to eat differently.
What advice do you have for other users?
My first tip is to get to know the YAZIO app and try to find a way to make tracking your meals fun. Writing yourself a meal plan can be helpful for that. It's also important that you celebrate smaller victories.
If you need motivation, I would suggest documenting your progress with pictures or talking to other YAZIO users in the Facebook groups.
What are your future goals?
I want to continue losing weight and reach my goal weight of 155 pounds. I know how it works. I just have to start weighing and tracking my meals again. After losing 100 pounds, I stopped tracking for a while. I've maintained my weight for 9 months and, after my year long weight-loss journey, wanted to let my body enjoy a "weight-loss break."
Now I want to slowly get going again, weigh my meals and track with YAZIO so I can stick to my calorie goal and adjust my calories regularly. I know that it will work the same way again.
Why do you want to tell your story?
I can't describe what this weight-loss has done for me. I've developed such an incredible zest for life and self-love. I have so much more energy and self-confidence, making me happy to continue eating mindfully and healthily each day.
